Carrying shoes!

Another day, another problem!
I have a smallish pannier, which fits a laptop, work papers and if needs be a change of shirt etc. However unless I don't mind getting foot prints all over my work and stretching my pannier to breaking point, there is no room for a pair of shoes.
With a good trek on foot at the end of my journey, padding round the streets of London in clipless isn't a great option either!
How do people manage to carry a spare change of shoes on their bike?

I have two panniers, one of which I'd put my size 12's in, and the other would have my other clothes and bits in. However, I became annoyed at carrying them around all the time, so now I keep a pair of shoes in my desk which I change in to at work.0

I'm with the other two - leave a pair of shoes at work (or even two, one pair black, one pair brown to cover all wardrobe eventualities)Crash 'n Burn, Peel 'n Chew

I have SPDs and MTB type shoes (Shimano MT-40s) but they are not too flexible, and I'm worried the soles will wear through too quickly with the hard pounding I tend to give my shoes.
Seeing as no-one has come up with any simple yet perfect solutions I might give them a try for a week and see how I get on. Can't be any less grippy than leather soles with Blakeys in!

I keep mine at work. I also use a TopPeak MTX bag, which has two fold-out panniers for if/when I need them. One has been used for shoes on a few occasions.Commute - MASI Souville3 | Road/CX - MASI Speciale CX | Family - 80s ugly | Utility - Cargobike0

If you don't want to get another pannier I'd just pop your shoes for the walk in a carrier bag (or even better get a bag for putting football shoes in)and strap it to the pannier rack.<center>

Since the body of opinion is to leave shoes at work, I've spent two days bashing the streets of London in my MT40 SPDs.
Have to say it was remarkably easy, and as comfortable as walking in "proper" shoes. Only slight concern is climping down metal trimmed stairs where it's SPD against metal, one false foot or a bit of rain and I think I'll have my first clipless moment sans bike!
Thanks everyone - why take two shoes in to work...
