Fitting Ergo's...

They're straightforward to fit with no real banana skins. Campag's supplied instructions are comprehensive enough to guide you through the job. Allow plenty of time and take care when deciding the length of the outers, make sure you don't cut them too short so tape them to the bars first and check the run of the cable to the downtube stops.
BTW, apologies if you already know this but the cables with the pre-fitted ferrules are the gear cables. Make sure you fit the other ferrule after you have cut them, and also to both ends of the short outer for the rear mech loop. The brake cables do not have any ferrule fitted.0 -
The key thing is getting the angle of the bars and the position of the levers - aim for the tops of the bars having a 5-10 degree downward slant and that the tops of the hoods to line up to give a nice flat platform - it's quite a different position to STIs. Make sure you leave enough outer such that you can turn the bars lock to lock without the cables going tight. First time out, it's worth taping the cables to the bars with electrical tape and having a quick spin before committing to bar tape. A full covering of electrical tape means it's also possible to remove the bar tape if needed to reposition the levers. Give yourself plenty of time as it's not a job worth rushing and you'll be spending plenty of time looking down on your handiwork! Finally, best to thread the inners through the levers into the outers before mounting the levers - trying to fit an inner with the lever and outers in position can be tricky at times.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
