Great result for Cav and add another to his haul this season. Surely he can add to the tally if there are some sprint finishes?

I see there is an Aussie rider called Johnnie Walker! Wonder what his testosterone level is...

Was anyone else at Crystal Palace yesterday for this?

What fun, especially the Fuerteventura-Canarias DS and his comedic encouragement to his riders (best placed finisher for the team was 29th!). Also entertaining to see Oleg Tinkoff shouting (can they not afford a small PA system?) encouragement at his riders whilst banging the hell out of the passenger door. But then I guess when you're the owner of the team you can damage what you like.
  • Yep, I enjoyed the Fuerteventura boys too! Seems like there's a real mix of riders who (presumably) like the car behind shouting/ beeping/ sitting right on their tail while the rest go about things in a slightly more orthodox fashion.

It was great to be able to get to see so much yesterday - much less busy than I thought it would be.

Highlight for me was one of the riders stopping on the climb during the warm ups to pick up one of the E-on polka dot hats. Sadly I don;t know who he was but he sounded like a Yank.

Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
  • A great day of racing and, unlike at the Tour de France prologue, you could actually see it.

Amazing that Cav averaged 61.2 kph / 38mph!

Also good to see Alan Pieper in jeans and trainers, cycling round with his riders on the warm up laps giving advice on correct lines through corners etc
  • Cav was first at the first sprint of stage 1 (at least he was with about 20metres to go, I couldn't see the actual line ). I went out to watch it, and it all passed in a bit of a blur...

Oh dear indeed, quite pathetic really. Would not surprise me if the T.O.B people never hired a timing company in the first place.

This is the 4th T.O.B and it still has a amateurish, thrown together at the last minute feel about it.
  • A pic from yesterday's prologue, taken on my phone. Was quite pleased considering.

Certainly a fair bit better than anything I took at the Tour using a proper camera - the lack of crowd helped no end.
