Is Downhill forks on a MTB possible?

Hey, I have no idea what kind of answer i will get :D it makes asking questions fun i spose and i have put it in this section because i am a beginner and i am "newb" or "noob" or what ever lol. But would i be able to get some nice 185mm travel forks onto a £300 MTB, Or am i just being plain silly.

    yes in a word.........

    the geometry is set for a certain length of travel up front and using another one will complelty ruin it

    plus they'd cost more than the bike itself

    what frame? generally 185mm forks would be way too much for a £300 bike, but for all we know it could be a several seaslon old bike you've picked up second hand.
