Rear Shock Topping OUt

By accident i let some air out my rear shock and it now tops out. Would putting the lost air back in fix it?

what is the shock.

and are you sure you mean top out not bottom out?

yeah when i lift the rear end up it tops out (meaning there is play)

Could be a loose pivot or bushing.

and air out of which valve? colour of the cap?

If it's the red one, then put it back in ASAP. Riding it like this will damage the shock.
Check the range, (printed in red on the piggy back) and don't go outside these values to avoid damage.
