I have a kinda clicking sound comming from the crank area that i cant seem to shift. I have tried removing the cranks stripping them down, cleaning and then rebuilt, i have removed the BB cleaned it, cleaned the threads and cleaned the threads in the frame. I have put everything back together nice a tight and have used thread lock on the chainring and crank bolts but still i get this clicking/creaking sound. I did notice that the BB didn't turn as smoothly as a new BB does when i had it out.

I did recently strip and service my dmr v8's but there no play in them.

The noise happens when just starting off or when i start pushing harder on the cranks to get more spead. Doesn't happen as much when sitting and riding it happens more standing. The noise is kinda two or three clicks/creaks as i pedal.

Could it be the BB is worn ?? there's no play in it thoigh.

read the noisey drive train artical on parktools.

yes the bb could be worn.

  • Had a look through and what it descibes i have done, i done the test that was on there to check bb bearings by spinning the cranks with no chain on and hold the seat tube with one had and there was none of what the site describes so the bearings in the bb seam fine, i guessing the bb can still be worn even if the bearings are fine.

Going to check the rest of the drive train next.
  • Make sure BB is tight enuff. I had a clanking noise on mine, thought the BB had had it, cos I didnt have BB or crank tools took it to a lbs and they took out BB and said there was nothing wrong with it, put it back in nice and tight and not a noise since

mine was cuz the bolts werent done up tight enough
  • Check your rear QR skewer is tightening properly.

If you have an ISIS BB, it may have cracked a raceway on one of the bearings. This will develop into play in the BB.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
