From the news story 'Cops on Bikes':-

The Dorset force has already run a trial scheme and now will provide 12 bikes for officers, complete with sirens and flashing blue lights.

I WANT A SIREN AND FLASHING BLUE LIGHTS!! It would make negotating the walkers/dogs/other cyclists on the Tarka Trail so much more fun.

Flame thrower would be interesting too . . .

Sorry to hi-jack your thread. I see your from N.Devon and you mention the tarka trail, using my powers of deduction I guess your not going to be too far from Bideford.
I'm down there all next week with no one to ride with if you fancy a ride buddy, assuming of course you are a roadie! Not that I have anything agianst MTB'rs but I've only got room in the car for one bike!

Back to the topic in hand I'd be up for a set of blues and twos, be bloody handy up here in that land of the roundabouts and concrete cows, and also home to some of the worst driving I've seen!

    Cheers

  • You are a veritable Sherlock Holmes, your powers of deduction have not let you down. Only today I rode from Bideford to Crow Point (nr. Braunton) and back. But not a roadie I'm afraid, but then not really an off-roader either. I basically pound on and around the Tarka Trail on an MTB, with knobbly tyres. I didn't know any better when I bought it!

Unfortunately next week is holiday time for me too - well, for my Dad anyway, which means I'm away cat sitting. Sorry.

As an aside I humbly proffer my attempt at a website on the trail - trailtrash.co.uk - to get you in the mood? Have a good time in sunny Devon and whatever you do, make time for a Hockings ice-cream (there should be a van on the Quay in Bideford) Sublime!

For fans of a certain '70s cop drama, the bike would have to be metallic brown, of course; "get your bibshorts on - you're nicked!" :)
