I just bought new tyres and innertubes for my old MTB to turn it into a commuter. I bought these- http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.a ... ith%20Tube

(Continental Sport Contact MTB Tyre With Tube ).

Now the question I have is regarding the hole in my rim. The valve stem is fully through this and some of the rubber is also poking through. Is this ok?

I was thinking about putting the screwing valve stem washer on the inside of the rim to stop the rubber poking through - but then I decided against it.

Any suggestions?

You need one of the plastic shims that comes with Mavic rims, they convert the hole from Schraeder size to Presta. I'll have a root around in a bit and see if I have any.
