Hi, just bought some 2nd hand 2004 888r's 200mm.
Just wondering if anybody on here knows how to sort the top out of the fork when the rebound is set reasonably fast.
A friends 06 vf2's are set on a much faster setting than mine but dont top out,...when i get mine close to that speed of rebound they top out a lot.
Can this problem be solved??
cheers Paul

Top out springs present?0

if you mean ...are the springs there...then yes they are.
Could you please explain a little further on what you mean.
ThanksLive Life and RIDE0 -
are the top out springs present? down at the bottom of the cart.
not the main springs."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I presume so, as the previous owner had them regularly serviced, and serviced by tf tuned a year ago.Live Life and RIDE0

might be time for another service."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

so..before i contemplate a service...could you tell me what these top out springs do?
can i do the job myself?
thanks for the helpLive Life and RIDE0 -
they provide a sprung end to the extension part of the stroke. so instead of a metal to metal finish it is metal to spring."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

so where abouts are they in the stanchions...bottom or top?
What should i be looking to adjust?
Is it a relatively easy job to do...because i'm adjusting the preload soon so i can do it then.

Have a google for a service manual, some good sites out there. You will need to strip the fork.0
-
they are right at the bottom of the stack.
not really something you will do at the same time as the preload. as they require a full stripdown and oil change......"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Cant seem to find a 888 service manual...am i not looking hard enough?

The manual http://www.marzocchi.com/Template/listSPAManualsMTB.asp?IDFolder=126&LN=UK&Sito=mtb&t=888&TipoProdotto=ForksAM&IDA=2456&Submit=Searchl suggests a higher viscosity oil might help. Can't find a service guide either.0
