I'm old enough to remember proper music...stuff that had harmony, beauty and delightful melodies that you could hum along to unlike this modern tripe.
Stuff like the UK Subs and Stiff Little Fingers.
Proper music. And yet another self-indulgent blog

Me thinks you're stoner rockfan... I reviewed a Goatsnake album for Rocksound in early 2000 - forget the name now

Me, I'm a fan of Sonic Youth, Bob Seger, White Stripes, Mudhoney, Nirvana... have been a fan of Mega City Four and Neds Atomic Dustbin in the past, but they grew stale in my record collection
When the mood takes me, I can go a bit of Carcass, Godflesh, Public Enemy, Slayer, Petula Clark, Marmalade.... basically anything good, but that's subjective to me0 -

I appointed myself Pompous selector of all things good in music In Chief about seventeen years ago after seeing The Pixies at Phoenix...or Reading...or some other outdoor place that year. I was very drunk.
Unfortunately, when I admitted to finding the Sugababes 'Bet you look good on the' quite good, the wife took my title from me.And yet another self-indulgent blog

On my phone at the moment I've got albums by Roxy Music, A couple of Bowie, The Wedding Present catalogue, NMA latest offering, Manu Chao, Buzzcocks, Bush, Eno, Ramones, Mala Vita, The Kinks and Cornershop. I change them weekly...

Controversial view of Nirvana... I saw them bottom of the bill at Reading and that was amazing... then I saw them at the Hummingbird and thatwas amazing too... saw them headline at Reading and that was a farce
For me, there's very little wrong with Supermuff Bigfuzz, Mudhoney and Every Good Boy... after that I think Mudhoney never really got near these dizzy musical heights, but they're much better than a lot of fashionable bands getting a hype or two today0 -

Who is Manu Chao and Mala Vita... not something I'm too familiar with
NMA - is that New Model Army? didn't know they were still going
Are you going to the Wedding Present 20th anniversary of George Best at ULU? Am tempted myself.0 -

Yea, New Model Army are still lumbering on, just released a new album.
I was thinking about going to see The Weddoes but seeing as I preferred them in the Steve Albini phase I doubt it'd be that rewarding for me.
That bottom of the bill appearance by Nirvana...I'd forgotten that one. So that's 3-1 on the suck-o-meter with the worst being his heroin'd-up wheelchair entrance the following year. And yet another self-indulgent blog

I see your Sonic Youth obsession and raise you stalking them across Birmingham in 1992 to get their autographs... just joking
Look out for "Psychic Confusion - The Sonic Youth Story!" by Stevie Chick. It's out in October0 -

Have you checked out the Von Sudenfed album? MES with Mouse on Mars. It's brilliant.
And in a minor claim to fame, I know the guy who was one of the assistant engineers on Pixies Trompe Le Monde. If you ever wonder what happens to these guys, it seems they sometimes end up in IT in banks :PFckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

The DC by a mile (such simple pentatonic based riffs pounctuated with raw double stops, and a better bend vibrato than BB King).
