What bottom bracket ?

I'm having difficulty with selecting the right bottom bracket. Two questions:-

1.) I have a Kinesis Racelite TK frame. Does anyone know what size bottom bracket is required for this type of frame?

2.) What type of bottom bracket goes with a Shimano 105 Hollowtech chainset. I see on websites that there are Octalink and Hollowtech 2 bottom brackets. Will any of them fit?

Thanks

  • Can only answer your question 1 I'm afraid . The frame you mention takes an English thread bb .

the easyest way to identify you crank is to have a look

Hollowtech cam in two flavours 1 and 11 (2)

1 had a crank bolt on each crank. 11 did not have a crank bolt on the drive side. as the axel is incorperated into the crank arm.
    for example:

    HT1

  • Nick,

I've got a HT1 crank. But which bottom bracket does it need. All the online shops have Octalink and HT2 bottom brackets but nothing that is obviously for HT1

    Thanks

octalink. you will need to check that the bb shell is 68 or 73mm wide (i guess 68mm) and the axle is normally 109mm but i dont know about your set up please check your sizing.

    but it is Octalink.

Octalink 68mm shell x 109mm axle with English thread - 99.9% certainty. Doesn't have to be the 105 one - can use Ultegra and DuraAce also
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

105, Ultegra, DA and XTR all use the same spline

XT, LX and below use the longer splines
