My Spanish is patchy at best (ok ok babelfish :-) ) according to that site the Spanish Federation have rejected the UCI claim and have refused to initiate proceedings due to their being no new evidence and will include him in the line up for Stuttgart . They are also promosing to defend him by judicial means, this coluld be bad for the other Spanish riders hoping to go to the worlds.

cheers

If it went to something like CAS, the Spanish would win their case easily. The UCI seem to be bowing down to what the German organisers say but the organisers approach is completely reactionary and inconistent.

If the UCI think there is new evidence, make it public. Also, add in this "oooh, he missed a control" nonsense and you can see they're trying to set an example, and in typical UCI fashion making an absolute balls up of it.

Whatever we may think about his doctors, nobody can deny Valverde has some top-notch lawyers and public relations people working for him.

    Zabel commented today

“It's very important that every federation and the UCI apply the rules, but it's not good for them to say this or that rider is not welcome. If riders positive that's when they should be excluded.”

“The problems of doping exist in cycling, but maybe in Germany's there's been a bit of an over-reaction. It's typically German to want to make everything 120 percent good.” he reflected.

My question for the UCI, who is investigating him exactly, because his fed sure aren't?
