HRM Recommendations Wanted
I have a very basic Polar F1 at the moment bu I would like one that allows you to upload data to a PC, also want it to have an intervals function. Budget £150 or so. Anybody got any recommendations? Thinking at the moment of Suunto T3 plus PC pod. Have also been looking at the Polar S610i and Cardiosport GT5.
I should point it that it's not just for cycling - I also cross-train on a Concept2 rowing machine - so I don't really want a cycling-specific one. I don't really see what the benefit is of being able to correlate speed on the bike with heart rate (what about headwinds and hills? You won't see that on the graph).
So really just looking for a recommendation for a good multi-purpose HRM with intervals and PC upload function.
Thanks

Hi,
i bought the suunto T3 with the bike kit and I am very happy with it. Similar to you I wanted something that went beyond cycling as I plan to do a triathlon next yet.
The only other route you might consider is getting a combined GPS/HRM - it isn't multifunctional but I think the routefinding will be worth having. I am saving up now0 -
Thinking sideways a bit how about a garmin runners GPS. Also useful on a bike - you can also upload altitude data as well as hr. Its like a big watch which will be ok on the Concept and you can strap it onto thehandlebars when on th ebike.

I'm looking at a Garmin Edge 205 at the moment. This is a GPS cycle computer but the 305 model does come with a HRM. The list price of these items is quite high but there are several ebay dealers doing the 205 model for about £70, I guess the 305 will be somewhere just over £100. These units are bike specific, look like large computers and track course, altitude and speed via GPS. They also allow you to reride a course and race / pace yourself against a previous best lap. This might suit you very well and it links to your PC and recharges via a USB cable.
