New bike advice sought - is this any good?

Evening y'all,

I'm about to purchase a new mountain bike. I bough a Viking hardtail for £170 and 2 and a half months later a few bits broke! In that time I've covered 450+ miles, mainly on country paths and nature trail type terrain. The bloke at Halfords reckons it wasn't worth £170 so I feel a more expensive bike that's going to take more will be better.

I've spotted a Gt bike that caught my eye and wondered if you resident experts would mind casting your eye over it to advise if it would be suitable and is worth the £450 asking price. Here are the specs:
