I picked up a Trek 1200 frame on fleabay a few months ago, managed to get a groupset and all the rest to build it up myself. Was about to start this afternoon when I noticed that the frame has been damaged in two places, presumably by one of my housemates. Grrrr!
I have no idea whether its serious, I'm guessing it will weaken the frame significantly. Ive taken some pics and put them up here:

Any views appreciated! Massively frustrated, I don't want to have to trawl ebay for another frame!

You're referring to the flattening on the chainstay and the indentation under the front mech mount? Are you absolutely sure it didn't come like that, as they look a lot like deliberate features to provide sufficient clearance for chainrings and front mech. Certainly look far too regular to be damage.0

Yep, I agree. Those are deliberate to allow clearance.0

Just checked a bit more thoroughly and that does look like the case
It is weird that I didn't notice them first time round.
Thanks for the help, now all i have to do is build up the bike!

Nick, i had the same fears once when i bought a frame and i agree with the other guys, when i assembled the parts all became obvious,
how about a pic on completion, regards, scurry0 -
ya eedjit.
have you apologised to your flatmates for your accusations ?0 -
No, they were out, I was cursing them to myself only!
Yes I do feel like a eejit! A pleased one though
I will post some pics up once I get it build up, could take a while though!
What would i do without this forum? :roll:0
