Last night I was using a bike lane on the right hand side of the road which is separated by a large curb. I know - they are inherently dangerous at junctions - but I use this one purely because I know it well and know where the dangers are.

So - get to the lights and blokey in black mercedes proceeds to overtake me and then turn right across me. I shout "NOOOOOO!" in best Vader style whilst braking hard. I'd been expecting him to do this, so had been slowing a bit anyway.

He's turned someway into the bike path by now and comes to a rapid halt - lots of weight down on the front wheels - and winds the window down.

"It's OK - I saw you and I stopped"

So, is that a Sorry Mate, I Saw You?

My reply was simply "Bollocks you did" (with a smile) before pootling on my way...

Recently I saw quite a few cars forcing their way on the roundabouts. I almost hit a side of a car on Thursday. I broke hard and the rear wheel went up in the air!

Aunty C once told me that a car pushed out of a side road when she was riding her SMGT recumbent. Since she couldn't quite stop in time, she ended up impacting a pedal/crank into the lady driver's door panel. The driver was apparently spitting mad after that, but that's the consequence for pulling out when she didn't have priority and it wasn't clear.

I've come close a few times, but I've always managed to stop thusfar.
