Yeti 575 or Pace RC405??

Hello,
I am about to buy a new bike for XC and some 'All Mountain Use' and am thinking about going down the custom build route.
I have a full-on downhill bike, so the new bike will only be used for XC type rides. I am based close to Dartmoor, so the XC rides are generally rough, I ride fast downhill and I am over 100kg, so I need whatever I get to be reasonably strong, but also want it be as light as possible so I can acutally ride up the hills on the moors. Looking for sub 27lbs built if possible.
Current thinking is either a Yeti 575 Carbon, or Pace RC405. In either case, it will be specced with mostly XTR or Truvativ Team components. Wheels will most likley be DT Swiss EX1750. Forks will I guess be either Fox Talas RLC or Pace RC41s.
Any thoughts on the above? The total cost is likely to be between £2.5K and £3.5K depending on the direction I take. Should I be considering anything else as well in this price range?
Are the DT Swiss wheels a good choice?
Which of the above forks would work best with each?
If I go for the Yeti, is there any reason (other than cost) to go for the Alluminium frame rather than the Carbon?
Any help greatly appreciated, as it is a lot of money and I want to spend it as wisely as possible (in the context of buying a mountain bike!!).
Many thanks in advance
Kev

Also, forgot to ask. Are Hope Mono Mini Pro Carbon's any good, or am I best to go for something a bit more heavy duty? Had V2 moto's on my last bike and they were awesome (but a bit heavy).

Test ride the bikes, the only way you'll know that the bike is right for you.
Other frames to consider:
Orange 5
Commencal Meta
Specialized Enduro
Ellsworth Moment: http://www.freeborn.co.uk/shop/frames/f ... -frame-mk1
Ellsworth Epiphany: http://www.freeborn.co.uk/shop/frames/f ... hany-frame
As for brakes, Avid and Shimano are very good. Are you intending on running tubeless, dropping some weight ?Intense Socom

personally i would go down the route of finding out what you can get a demo of locally, the custom route is notoriously difficult to demo.
you will be lucky to demo a pace 405 as there will probably only be one in the country and that will still be with mags{i would personally wait till next year at least for pace to see what reliability is like}
you will have more success with the yeti probably
also have a think about how xc you want the bike,do you really need near 6 inches of travel,
personally i would go for something like a kona king if you want a true lightwieght
hope this helps0 -
Test rode a Yeti 575 today, with Fox Vanilla 140s on. Really liked the bike, climbed well and descended even better. Feels like a really well balanced bike, although for me, the 140s were a little too tall for steep climbing.
As such, I think I will go down the Yeti 575 route, but the jury is still out on what forks to fit. Fox 32 Talas 140-120-100 seem like a good compromise, as 100-120 will do fine for the flat and steeps climbs, with 140 working well for downhills. However, I have heard about some reliability problems with the TALAS forks. Can anyone who runs TALAS forks comment on this?
Cheers for all the advice to date. Really glad I test rode one, otherwise I would have bought the wrong forks!

Have a look at this

Used by Martin Ogden, in a previous MBUK he beat Oli Beckingsdale on a aggressive XC riding the RAM0 -
I have Talas forks on my Scott and have just sent them in for their second service in less than 2 years. I don't know if this is par for the course or bad luck but it seems more often than I'd like!0

I've heard there is a valve in the FOX which are prone to cracking so you get spikes in the travel. Plus you can't adjust the travel due to the forks not dropping down to the selected travel.0

Never owned a pair of Talas, but if they are anything like my Vanilla's (32's and 36's) then they'll be awesome. Never had a bother with either of mines!0
