Quick Front deraillier question
Managed to wreck two derailliers on two different bikes in the space of three days
My commuter bike is a Specialized sequioa with a sora front derallier (8 speed). I am about to purchase a Tiagra front derallier described as 9 speed.
I am fairly certain there is no problem with this but could anyone reassure me that I won't have any problems

I can't see any problems with that myself ( apart from it's Shimano )Ride on0

It should work.
Any details about how you managed to wreck two derailleurs in nearly as many days? You must have been really trying!
What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!0 -

Thanks for the quick response
First one on the Bealach na ba challenge, half way round, I tried to change down on the front and up at the back at the same time. Chain jammed and bent the deraillier. Had to get off and bend it back so it worked (after a fashion) thereafter had to be careful as the chain kept jumping off when changing to the big cog.
Second one on my commuter (Sequioa), climbing a big hill, chain broke and snapped of the bottom part of the cage, hence I need a new one.0 -
9spd cages are narrower than 8spd, as the chain is narrower
It will work but you may experience more chain rub, especially if you run a tripleFacts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
Yeah I do run a triple
Will give it a go and see how I get on. have ordered it from Chain Reaction at the princely sum of £13.99 so no great loss if it doesn't work out.0
