More robust components to tackle rough roads?

Ive got 2 bikes, a kona fixie for wet weather and winter commuting and a carbon trek for dry commuting, training and racing.

The trek is a great ride but suffers a bit from the rear wheel (bontrager aero racelites) going out of true a little and getting play in the bearings, also the headset develops a bit of play, caused by some pretty rough surfaces on the lanes round here. The wheels are quite stiff too so comfort suffers.

So, over the winter should I save up and get a set of more robust wheels and a chris king headset? Any suggestions on suitable wheels? Or, if i fix these problems, are problems going to develop in the next weekest component, or even the frame?

What i'm finding is that i tend to ease up and wince as i bash up and down on the rough tarmac, takes the enjoyment and edge off the ride.
