I am looking at getting some shoes to use with flat pedals (DMR V12's) to work on my skills. CRC currently have deals on the 2004 661 Launch - any good?
Other recomendations for cheapish shoes - not really planning on becoming a flat pedal convert at this point, just want something to thrash around in for now.

I bought a pair of cheapo Airwalks from a random sports shop (the big Soccer Sports Direct chain thing), reduced to £17.99 I think and work really well with my DMR pedals. Don't the 661 Launch pedals have cleat attachments?
  • I am currently using an old pair of Vans... I suspect most "skate" shoes will work fine.

I have the same pedals.... for the same reasons.... I can now bunny hop without clipping in :D
  • Pretty much any skate style shoes will be fine, most people say Vans work good, in my experience Etnies grip really well.

Thanks for the replies. I've heard of Vans' just not sure which type!
Re the 661 Launch -they are describes as flat Skate style shoes which accept SPD,s. Not sure if this makes them too much of a compromise?

If you want to use SPDs I'd get a separate pair, skate shoes are quite a bit more flexible, I'd also imagine the bit where the SPD clips will stick out of the bottom.

SPD shoes have to be very rigid, due to the very small contact area with the shoe the entire rigid sole effectively acts as the platform you stand on. I used to have some old Shimano flat style DX Shoes, they did both pretty badly and cost more than my Airwalks plus my Spesh BG shoes I use now :)

Normal skate shoes how ever will grip like glue on DMR pedals, it's awesome :)

Perfect - so where's a good place to buy Van's from?
Is any particular model better than the rest?

I've used eS for several years and have always found them to work well, although the sole starts to get rutted out by the pins. My etnies sole fell apart too quickly compared to the eS so have always stuck with them.

best places to get skate shoes from are places like route one, rollersnakes, hsc etc
