SRM Amateur and Dura Ace 10 speed

Yes, it'll work. You just need a square taper BB. Check with who is selling it that the chainrings are narrow for a 10spd chain though.
Also, remember the amateur version isn't so accurate. Combine that with the way it's a pain to set up and to recalibrate all the time and you might prefer the Powertap system, even if that has a more annoying interface and software.0 -
Kleber, cheers, right I have some more questions...
Why the need for square taper BB? I thought shimano was octalink?
If the chain rings are not correct can I just bolt on my Dura Ace ones that I already have on my chainset?
Cheers.0 -
Why the square taper? Because you're not using a Dura Ace crankset, so you're using the old fashioned (and perfectly good) square taper system of cranks supplied by SRM.
As for the chainrings, I'm not sure of the SRM chainring diameter. Just ask the people you're buying the crankset from.0 -
Kleber, cheers, the reason I asked was because the one that I have just bought actually came with the octalink cranks, so it seems as long as I get one of the older octalink style BBs then it will all work out, even SRM themselves told me that it would not work, maybe they just wanted me to spend double on the Dura Ace system.
From your help and from another source it appears that it will all be perfectly fine, so thanks a lot, I know they can be fiddly sometimes, but as I ride allover the place, I understand that they are great for all sorts of conditions, where as some of the other power measurement systems can be a bit troublesome in varying weather and sometimes give spurious readings when it is cold and wet...
It is my first SRM, so I will let you know how I find it.
Cheers again for your help...0
