Hi all.
anyone use these and especially waterproof ones.
if you can recommend a pair i would really appreciate it.
seems like they sound like the answer to keeping the old knees dry and all the muck and water off thigh etc.

altura boulder 3/4 are advertised around but cannot find out if they are waterproof.
the humvee 3/4 's are panned for inferior fabric and breaking zips.
polarisis make a pair and kona.

any advice appreciated.

Paul

yes??? wear whatever the hell you want. I wear four, five pound primark ones, for XC, DH, everything really... I cant understand how stuff like shorts gets so overpriced (oh, wait, most things are...)

why four? are they that thin. LOL :P
i have a pair of endura humvees no probs here and had them at least twelve months and i ride with them most weekends,
still get dirty near the ankles and stones in shoes though. but at least there comfy, practical and u don't have to wear bicycle clips (so old) or tuck your trousers into your socks. 8) .
oh and enduras are normally made from a hard wearing nylon so there water resistant not sure about water proof though. :?:

I wear the Enduras too. Very good, and I dont think they are waterproof. But in my opinion, if you're out riding and it rains heavy enough to get wet through them, chances are most waterproof things would let the wet in too eventually. Also, I think the Enduras have some sort of special technique as far as the stitching is concerned making them stronger.

I will most likely buy the Endura Humvee trousers too for the winter.
  • I've used the endura's for a couple of years commuting every day and weekends. They are excellent in the cold for keeping the chill off your knees. The fabric is hard wearing and is not bad in the wet but i've never been out all day in the wet and mud with them. They wash and dry really quick as well, BUT, you are right about the zips. Both my pockets have broken. Apparently if you return them to Endura they will replace them but i havn't bothered as i don't put anything in them anyway.

I got 1 pair of 3/4 length that were £5 off a market stall and a pair of £40 Quicksilver 3/4 lengths. both get worn for XC.

Another shout for the Humvees. I use the 3/4s and the regulars and they both rock!

  • Thanks for responses but the really important factor was the water resistant properties as this is what keeps limbs warmer in wet conditions. I understand the fashion end but in this case I am after functionality.
    Cheers
