  • unless your fitting it to a cannondale frame then its not going to happen.

they are a specific steerer tube size around the 1.5" mark, so wont fit a normal sized frame without buying special adapters etc.

    what are you upgrading from?

my cannondale prophet comes with a lefty max and i cant rate it enough, super plush and stiff i'd definatley have no issues reccommending them, only issue i get is the people pointing and joking as i ride past but that could be something not related to the bike....

cheers for pointers, cldnt find owt when searched.

have a caffiene 3 with standard fatty for on it..do you have to change wheel or hub for the fork to fit to?

as for people looking/laughing, it could just be like being at home with the kids then

you will need at least a new hub.

  • yeh cheapest way would be getting a new lefty hub built onto your current rim and then sourcing a lefty. they can be pretty expensive however, so keep an eye on ebay.
  • i think theyre a waste of time. they look daft and flimsy, and (im guessing here) cant have as much adjustability as normal forks, and surely cant take as much hammering as normal ones too.....?
  • ther is nothing really wrong with them. but for the money you can get just about any other fork you could want and have change left over to custom vavle them aswell. my major gripe with them is the after sales through the uk is a company called 80 aid. they are about as reliable as a chocolate tea pot. have the time we send a fork off to them for warrantee (which is too often for my liking). you never know if you will get the fork back with all the bits it was sent out with. or the right bloody fork in the first place. i would sooner beat myself with a shovel then deal with them. as long as the forks don't malfunction they are fine indeed. but beware.

id heard they were suppose to be one of the best manufactured forks available. Ive been qouted between 400-500 pounds for the fork then about 70 for a new hub. Been checking out ebay, theres two for sale as well as a wheel, but im not sure if the forks are size to frame specific, can anyone tell me?

I read on cannondale site that lefty forks are frame size specific.

Its an expensive upgrade, but a couple of blokes i know who have them cant rate them enough.
  • as far as i'm aware the only difference for a frame size is usually the spring that goes inside it. mine are fiitted to a medium and come with a red spring. thats on a lefty 140 max.

as far as them being described by our friend above as "flimsy" well you obviously have never ridden or seen one close up so why commment....

i can understand them being described as one of the best manufactured forks or fork however as they are, but i'm jst not sure if i was upgrading another bike and looking to spend £500+ on getting them fitted i'd choose them over something else.

i am more than happy to use mine and do find that it works alot better than most other forks i have used, and it also has all the adjustment i need and probably most other people would need.

    cheers
  • A collegue has been running some on a Jekyl for just over two years and they have given him nothing but trouble over the last few months - even when serviced on a regular basis. I understand that the recommened service shedule is fairly frequent too which is something you need to factor into the cost. He swore by them at first but is fully against owning another lefty now.

does anyone know anything about the springs and colours in the forks. ive seen one for sale and its advertised as having a blue spring, whatever that means
  • just found this "The blue spring kit comes stock on the large frame and supports 150-180 lb rider" so thats what will be in the fork,

the guy that mentioned the regular servicing, its no more regular than any other fork other than the bearing reset which you may need to do evry now and again, but this is literrally a two min job.
