disc brake work far better than rim brakes, require less maintenance (once fited and setup correctly) and work reliably whatever the weather.

They are a good upgrade if you can afford them and as nicklouse says, your forks and frame have disc adapters, and the wheel hubs are disc compatible (your rim don't matter btw).

That said rim brakes work perfectly fine if setup correctly, so if you have a choice of say upgrading your fork vs you brake, I'd go for the forks and get the discs later.
  • well i'm quite happy with my forks, i dont really no how good they are because i'm no expert. They are RST Aerosa TL, the hieght can be adjusted by 1 inch, also you can alter the hardness and softness. so i may consider changing 2 front and back disks.
  • Might be better getting a cheap back brake; Gusset Chute or Shimano Deore. Then save up for a new fork!
