marzocchi oil level dilemma

Hi, I used to have a Marin Alpine Trail 04 or 05 I think, that was fitted with Marzocchi MX Comps, There was an issue I believe at the time about there being too much oil factory fitted to the forks, I eventually found this out and sorted it. Otherwise I really liked the fork.

I have just bought some 07 MX Pro's for my recent bike. Can anyone tell me if the high oil level problem exists with the current MX Pros ? Was it all the MX's or just the comps ? I would rather just get on and fit the fork and off I go rather than re-measuring the oil etc and getting over involved in the internals again ?

was only a short runn problem.

but as with most forks you may want to change the oil height to optimize the ride.

Looks like I could be ok then, I looked everywhere on the Marzocchi website, and it doesnt give the oil level for the 07 MX Pro

If it feels ok, then it generally is ok.

Doesnt it feel the same but just not give you full travel ?

    Mmm your correct.

look in the tech links sticky for the Windwave link for their marz info.

Thanks Nick, I doubt I would have found the windwave information.
it says 130 I assume that means 130ml of fluid ? I believe I am to use 7.5wt fluid, I have some Castrol motorcycle fork oil, is this ok. I have 10wt and 5 wt, is this a stupid question or can I combine equal quantities of them to make 7.5wt. I was advised also not to use Finish line.

Another quick question. I am never sure how to measure full travel. Is the 100mm measured from the forks settled (unweighted position) or is travelled measured from the fully extended leg ? which you can usually only achieve by lifting the front of the bike pulling down on the fork legs against what I believe is called the negative and then settling the o ring against the seal then ?
Plus is the bottom out point on Marzocchis MX's where the seal comes right up to the crown, or is it set below that ?

Sorry to be fishing for so much information, but I want to avoid having to take drain brand new forks unless neccessary

finish line is what i use.

on thing to watch out for with MC fork oils is some have seal swellers in them that if ysed on a cycle fork will greatly increase stiction.

yes oils can be mixed to give the desired weight of oil.

    yes Marz standard is 7.5wt.
