Any opinions on the most durable external BB currently available? Recommendations for a crank to go with it? Budget £90 approx.

Thanks.

Shimano External BBs are the best available. LX/Hone would be a very good choice. I have both and they are extremely good BBs/Cranks.

Go with XT hollowtech II and then when the bearing do go, contact Sideways cycles to have Phil Woods bearing pressed in for you (almost as expensive as replacement BB but last way longer).

The rings will die first anyways but just replacement with Deore/LX (steel) rings or if your feeling rich Middleburn ones or even richer Ti ones....
