Hi,

For what it's worth, I was torn between these 2 bikes and I did quite alot of research and reviewing of posts on this forum.

I eventually plumped for the GT from my LBS (Sydney Street Bikes, Brighton) for £450.

I collected it last friday and I have to say that it is smooth as silk and rides very well. I went for this bike for 3 main reasons....

1) Support my LBS (as obviously they don't sell the Fury)
2) Halfords staff at my local shop aren't the sharpest tools in the box when it comes to bike maintenance. They shunned me when I asked about hydraulic brake maintenance (they laughed amongst themselves and intimated that they hate dealing with them).
3) Research, bike tests and comfort in the riding position. My Halfords wouldn't let me take the Fury for a spin to test it.

I know it's horses for courses and people have their opinions, however, I would just like to say that for anyone torn in the £500 bracket, I am 100% satisified with the GT and IMO it is one of the best in this price range.

Also, if anyone is interested, I am almost 17 stone and the GT feels tough and handles well - I generally have ridden it on rough bridleways to date.
