broken headset?

hi all, i needed some help from the experts out there i was changing my stem the other day on my carrera kraken and it all went fine until i started to ride...
the forks were really lose and wobbling everywhere and i dont no how to fix it could you people tell me plz many thx kizzy. :oops:

    sounds like you did not preload the bearings after changing the stem.

    have a read of the info on parktools.

    Is your new stem the same height round the clamp area as your old one, you may require an extra spacer to get your headset preloaded correctly.

    Check that you haven't lost any spacers from underneath the stem. The steerer should be sitting 3-5mm below the top of the stem. If it isn't then it can make the headset feel loose even if you tighten the preload up.
