Buying a new bike and not really knowing much

Hi,
I`m a female looking for a new bike between £300 and £400.
Don`t really have a clue were to start been to some shops and have got it down to 3 but not sure which is best with regards to spec etc.

Not fussed about having a ladies bike as I have always had mens.
will be used both on road and off road

Out of the three I would go for the Gary Fisher.

My missus has one and it has proved to be a sturdy little steed.

But that's just my two pennys worth.

Have you looked at the Specialized womens-specific cycles?

There are a lot to choose from and everyone here will have diff opinions on whats best for the money. Best thing you can do is actually try them out...

thanks that great just looked at the buying guide starting to understand a bit now. going to ring evans up so that I try the gary fisher.

i would go gor the Gary fisher. My missus has it and i'm well jealous of her. Its a £650 for £400 which is a bargain in my eyes. Only poo bit on the bike are the brakes but they are still hydraulic
