A warning to bikers

This is a warning to all those who have a half decent bike and are out on your own. Be careful of cars following you home! I just got home about ten mins ago after hiding at a mates house. I was on my way home from another mates and was riding my SX Trail.

On the way home a blue Corsa crept up behind me then pulled round the corner just infront of me. I thought nothing of it. Then later down the road, there they were again, driving by slowly and i noticed the Chavs (five of um) watching me as they went past, again they pulled up into a car park just infront of me. So i started to sprint on the bike and they drove past me again only this time they kept going. I knew they were gonna come round, they wanted to see which road i lived on/ or went up. So i went up a different road, rode round the estate a few time and went down an alley. I stopped near the exit of the alley for a breather and i saw the same car drive past slowly and the chavs searching! They spotted me and stopped. I bricked it, turned round and pegged it for dear life! Kept checking if i'd lost em (which i hope i did!) and went to a mates house to stash the bike round their back garden. Had a nice cup of tea and waited it out for two hours!

Unfortunately i didn't get a look at the licence plate as i was trying too loose em!

I doubt they would have tried to steal it there and then, they were trying to find out where i lived so they could come back and get it! Its crap cos its a distinctive bike, no one has one in my area so it won't be difficult to find out where i live!

So i'll keep on the low down. as i said, just be careful.

Maybe it would be worth getting one of those tracking chips that have been mentioned on here recently, then if the scum do find it and steal it you'll have a much better chance of getting it back, and getting them arrested where no doubt the CPS will either say there's not enough evidence even though they were caught with the bike, or they'll get a 'community rehabilitation order' where they'll get to do some work in the community and have the opportunity to scour the streets for their next victims while they do it.

I have faith in the British Justice System - can you tell?! :?

There's only one way to deter/prevent these lovely characters from spoiling our beautiful country even more - and that's CASTRATION. That would soon stop them. Everybody who gets any worse punishment than a caution gets their family jewels removed. Preferably with a blunt and rusty carving knife.
  • dan1983 I agree with your punishment, it would serve the shits right

Exactly - my 'extreme ideas' often get me into trouble of my dad, but i'm glad you agree! :D

The way I see it with this country is that it's only going to get worse. These dregs of society do nothing all day apart from reproduce, so soon the country is going to be too heavily balanced in favour of shits as far as the nice person to shits ratio is concerned. Meaning we'll be outnumbered. Obviously this is a generalisation, some nice people also have lots of kids, but its the way it seems to be going unfortunately. Castration would stop this. 8)
  • its a cycle of deprivation, they teach their kids etc and it keeps on going and the gov keep throwing money at them. They should do like in Germany? or one of the European countries. If your getting benefits (job seekers) you should clean the steets or sommat for the council. at least then your actually contributing to society and not just a bottom feeder scum bag scouting for your next victim.

I mean this is obviously a massive generalisation and i'd like to think that the majority of society (whatever you back ground) are decent folk. I've just had a bad experience today.

lol the bb works like a generator
  • so do you have to take your cranks off to fit it?
  • it sits just above the BB, you drop it in the seat tube and you push it down to the bottom.

Dude, dont rely on the chip. I had that done to my marin a few years back, and it was stolen. I never got it back, but got a brand new one on the insurance. Get your bike insured if it isnt already.
  • The chips are a decent enough idea, only problem is they only identify the frame, ok if its some scrote who doesn't know what he's nicking and either keeps or sells the bike whole, not so good if the bikes stripped for parts and sold on eBay.

Lets face it, you could spend thousands on security of one sort or another, in reality all your doing is making it harder to steal, not stopping it completely.

Personally, I'd save the £25 quid and put it towards a nice thick lock and a ground anchor for home use. Common sense is also a good idea, for example, leaving it locked in a place that's very busy is generally wiser than locking it out of the way, unless the out of the way place is further secured.

Something that might be worth a look for bikes with disc brakes are rotor locks as used by motorcyclists, some even come with built in alarms, stick one of these on your back rotor in conjunction with a D lock through the front wheel/frame to a solid object, its going to take some moving and make a heck of a lot of noise if they manage it.

As I said, you'll never stop bike thefts completely, the best you can hope for is deterring the casual thief.

No, not powered, so no tracking.

Works like a dog chip, needs a scanner to read iirc.

I have a datatag fitted to my motorcycle, it also comes with a small pot of 'nail varnish' that contains micro-dots, good if you can be bothered to paint all of the major components with it, so if it is stripped the parts are identifiable.

I rang my local police force (Cleveland) and spoke to the crime prevention unit who told me that they do NOT have a bike registration scheme, but gave me some smart water for free - I spent last night painting everything with it - even tried to get the cat!
  • When i went to hide out at my mates, her dad gave me this MASSIVE lock and chain. He used to use it for his motor bike. He works as a metalologist (?) basically testing steel for the company he works for. He has to destroy loads of differet types of metal to see how strong/suitable it is to make tools out of. Goes all over the world. Hes got massive machines and industrial hydraulic steel cutters.

Well... The Sheffield Fire service (station is now closed...) gave him this pad lock and chain to test how strong they were. He used all his massive cutters and machines and NOTHING got through them. The only sign is a small scratch!!! On top of that you CANNOT get anyone to cut a new key for it as the lock has a registration number on it registered to the fire brigade. Im gonna start using them... They gonna have a hard time getting through them! The only thing im worried about is loosing the key!...

OK Adolf. Castrastion would not stop bike theft!! Firstly because if a criminal thinks they won't get caught (or just doesn't think) they'll do it regardless of punishment. Secondly a castrated criminal could still knick your bike (besides they'd literally have nothing to lose). Technically castration wouldn't lower the birth rate much, it would just mean the remaining 'Chavs' with balls would in more demand! Sterilisation (of women too) would be the way to achieve this. If you don't believe me look at Germany in the 1930s when they got rid of 'undesirable' elements - namely the disabled in this case. And 'dregs of society' ...come on. Not all 'Chavs' are criminals and not all criminals are Chavs.
