Amazing. Taken by a relatively unknown tester called David Millar

I'm readling the live reports from the US national champs road race and it's not much different over the pond.

Millar now holds all 3 titles eh...Track Pursuit, Road and TT..wonder if he will follow through on what he said, which was, he went on the record in 2006 as saying he would perhaps appeal the ban on hid participation in Beijing 08

Why did Millar never bother with this before. Surely its good for his team for him to be in the national TT jersey?
It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

But then he wouldn't be wearing corporate colours, which some sponsors won't like.

I remember T-Mob didn't want Vino to race the Kazakh nationals in 2004(?) as they shuddered at the idea of Kazakh turquoise clashing with T-Mob pink. He went and won anyway and then rode the Tour de France like the different colour strip meant he was riding for a different team.

Rule No.10 // It never gets easier, you just go faster
  • Unlucky Ruth in 4th for the women. Even more surprised to see Julia Shaw in 5th.

Reports on other forums state that Jason MacIntyre was 20 secs up on Millar with 12 miles to go when he punctured! Who knows what the outcome may have been.

  • It's interesting to see some quite famous names from the past, lurking in the various "Masters" categories.
Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.

Thanks Steve. I don't know about 'unlucky', though. No surprises that Wendy and Rebecca took two medals and Caroline Kloiber rode a stormer for the silver.

Many many congratulations to Wendy. An emphatic win and doubtless due as always to an awful lot of hard work. It's easy to forget what sacrifices, effort and focus go in to winning when you see familiar faces at the top time after time.

Seems from quite reliable source, two seperate timekeeprs...one in Jason macs entourage and one an official time keeper, plus perhaps one other than jason mac would have beaten millar by a healthy margin...so hope Jason Mac is advised properly and gets abroad to a career rather than staying UK based and surely well below his earning potential in Europe...also what about him going to the olympics if he´s that much faster than the other Brits?
  • I'm a big Millar fan, but I hope he doesn't appeal the ban. To me it shows he's accepting it as part of his punishmeny.

Plus it would be great to give some of the Brits who don't have a team a chance to show they could be of use to a Euro team.
  • Looked a lovely day! Well done Ruth, great to see someone from hear mixing it with the best!
