Stem Clamp fitting

Hi guys,
Treat myself to a new Riser bar today, making sure i got it in 31.8mm dia to fit the stem. Having got it home and fitted the clamp doesnt entirely close as seen in the image. Is this a fault and/or does it matter??

nothing wrong with that, as long as all is tight etc...... anyhows if it clamped fully chances are it woudnt grip the bar properly..0

the space MUST be the same top and bottom.
unless the stem instructions say different."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Its meant to be like that, if it didnt leave a gap then the bar would slide about.___________________________________________________________

Uhm, i didnt get any instructions, stock item :?
I have deduced this, though correct me if im wrong:
Previously the gap was closed at the top, if the bars are identical in size then there must have been a gap at the bottom?

The gaps should be equal, or you are not fitting the plate properly.0
