I've been riding since January on my first 1st road bike, a Trek 1200. This has served me well getting through weekly club rides, a couple of cycling breaks in lake district and normandy, my first century, several time trials and a couple of novice crit races. However, now I'm looking to buy something a bit more bling for next summer, with the trek being demoted to winter bike. I started off thinking I'd spend about £1000, this has gradually crept up to £1500 and now I'm consdiering a 2006 Lemond Victoire for £1700. Basically my two main options at the moment are the planet x ultegra value build for £1500 or the lemond, with the lemond having a slight edge due to the fact it's heavily reduced and it's in a shop so I'll be able to try it out and get it properly fitted. What I need to know is, are these good options for 10/25 TT's and crits? Also, although I appreciate it's not a huge amount of money to spend on a bike it is a sizable chunk for me, so are these bikes that will last a few years, both in terms of durability and assuming I keep improving, will the bikes still be good enough (not sure that makes complete sense but hopefully you get the drift)? Many thanks to anyone who can provide some input.
