Fizik - Arione vs. Aliante
Any Fizik riders out there? Currently ride the Arione and find it pretty comfortable but start to shuffle about late in a century. Don't really need the many positions as the Arione seems to give so contemplating the Aliante. Is the Aliante Gamma decent and does it have much padding compared to the Arione - don't like too much!
Cheers!

Usual non helpful but all too common response, best to check it out really, I always rode the Arione, until I bought a bike with a Selle Italia which has little room for movement, and now it has become my weapon of choice, I find myself sitting quite forward on it, but it just fits really well. It has bugger all in the way of padding but I still feel better on it than I did the Arione.0

Seeing as you like your saddle sparse in the padding department have you considered the Spesh Toupe.
Not tried one but seems to get alot of good press.0 -
I've got both - they are very comfortable but quite different. The Arione feels quite firm initially, but because of the large area, it spreads the pressure - it also means you can move about a fair bit. The Aliante is far more forgiving, but only has one position because of the concave shape - the whole shell flexes and so if you suffer from pressure points, is very good. Can't comment on the Gamma model, mines an original carbon one from 2000 - sadly the cover is starting to wear through after all these years. If I had the choice of only one saddle, it would be the Aliante.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I have had Fizik Arione for couple of years (replaced San Marco Rolls) and bought because C+ raved it up. Found it OK for up to 60 miles at a time.....agree it start to hurt getting up to (& over 100 miles) and there's not much 'repositioning' possibilities. Just bough a Selle Italia SLR Gelflow and it seems much better - in fact sometimes feels like I'm not even sitting down ! - and it seems to give more wriggle room side to side and front to back than the Fi'zik.Briceyinstockport0

Like Monty, I have both. The Arione is ok, I can ride but it's like sitting on a wooden bench, in a way I have to move around to be comfortable. The Aliante, well it's like a luxurious armchair for me. It just feels right. But what's right for me could be totally wrong for you.0

I have an Aliante that's all yours for £25 posted if you want it - used twice! An MTBer, but with skinny wheel tendencies...0

I also have both saddles, and would make the following observation(s):
The Aliante has a flat 'deck' which makes it comfortable if that's what you like. I do, and stumbled upon it looking for a more luxurious alternative to the Selle Italia SLR XP's I'd been using for a while.
The Arione gives more flexibility position wise - particularly front to back so relative to your bb - but I found that it felt a little like stting on a scaffolding pole after 40 or so miles.
Both are available in many formats/prices. I have the carbon railed Aliante on my Pinarello Paris and never notice it. Thus making it perfect for me....0 -
I had a arione I found it comfortable for about 40 miles, after that it was like sitting on the seatpost. I rode it about 8 times & gave up on it. I now have an Aliante gamma which I find really good.
