For those that don't know I have received my On-one 456 frame in shiny red.

Parts are on order to build it up (some here sitting in boxes waiting to be fitted):

Avid Juicy 5s
Pike 454 Air u-turns
DT Swiss 5.1s on Hope Pro 2 hubs
XT crank
XT shifters
XT Chain
XT F & R mechs
USE Sumo alu seatpost
On-one seat clamp
On-one smoothie lite headset

Will be using my existing stem and carbon Bontrager bars until I decide on stem length/rise.

Still need to order BB. Will do that monday.

Pics will go up once done for those that want to nose.

The new XT hollowtech 2 cranks come with a BB.

I use quite a short stem on my Inbred (70mm), due to the long top tube, with 1" rise bars.

Sounds very good! Hoping to build up my own hard tail later this year once I've saved some cash.

Thanks Sir. Realised I'd only 'wish-listed' the crank so wasn't paying attention

I was thinking 70/80mm for the stem... current one on my Trek is 90 so was expecting this to be a bit long....
  • Well,

Forks, rear mech, front brake, bars and shifters are all in place...

The rest is on its way from CRC mainly.

Steel frame does look kind of skinny though!

Did you have the headtube and BB faced ? And what brakes are you using ?

    All faced....

Using Juicy 5's with 185 rotors.

Have you cable-tied the rear brake hose further up on the seat stay....? My hose although not having too much slack feels like it can move over too much near the rear tyre.

PS, rear wheel arived today so now just got to fit some rubber and set up the gears and then its all done....

I used an 8mm P-clip, does the job. I did use a couple of cable ties, either side of the brake mount bolts before I replaced them with the P-clip.

  • Thanks Sir,

My frame has a hose mount just below the screw attatchments for rim brakes which fairly secures the hose but I feel it could do with one higher....oh well, we'll see how it goes. Thanks all the same.

Pics will go up in a day or two, post build.

I'd stick a cable tie on then, as it could get pulled in with any mud, etc.

    Thanks.

I'd forgotten what it is like to ride a steel frame. Takes be back to my youth! The Pikes seem a bl**dy good fork too.

I went out for a good 50K ride yesterday and it felt damned good. I'm afraid my full susser may get pushed to the back of the queue.
