Books/Maps for Alps Cycling?

Heading over to French Alps for a couple of weeks on Friday and was wondering if anyone could please recommend a decent book I could buy online, with information on the big climbs in the area and maps etc...?

Anyone who was been out there recently or is there now, what's the weather like? We're driving over and camping

The yellow folding Michelin maps are the best.
As for climbs,which part of the Alps will you be in ? (it's a big area)

When cycling abroad eg Provence,dutchbuld fields,cycle routes in Switzerland etc etc I have usually found good maps are either difficlutt or very expensive to get hold of here..Best get them locally when you are there..One good tip I was given on the Cycling plus forum was to googleearth where you are going...

veloland maps. This website has interactive maps see wher you are riding then choose the maps accordingly. The weather is all ready getting cold, here was summer there was late autumn, leaves are brown and sheading from the trees. Make sure you got good rain gear. I came back last Friday so the advise is pretty current. Enjoy your ride, it is stunning around there.

This site gives you the route profiles - good if you need to find an easy/hard climb for the day. Covers all of Europe in various detail. Regards, Al.
