This was the 'killer climb' in the comic a few months ago...its one srious hill....think its the biggest on road climb in the UK...something like 650meters ascent...it just beats the Bealach Na Ba...the Bealach takes 9kms to get up 626 meters, Great Dunfell does 650meters in 7km!...think its got some real steep sections...I was going to do a 70 mile cicruit around Alston/hartside etc then finish with the climb up to Great Dunfell...but can't fit everything into one year....maybe next year?

P.s I would love to do this on a real clear day...reckon from up ther at around 800 odd meters you would be able to see the whole of Cumbria and the York dales...

I have lost 3st of lard and got much fitter since then, I'd be interested to see what I made of it now.

I drove past it yesterday on the way back from the Cumberland Challenge, gonna give it a go next week methinks.

Do you have to get permission from somebody to go up?
You just have to ride like you never have to breathe again.
