Hi lads
my mate whos entering 100k marathon with me is gonna use my 2005/6 trek 4500 HT.( 27 speed ) v-brakes. Problem is its drive is shagged. no parts replaced since new and all well worn throughout. have to keep tightening crank bolt. cranks have missing teeth. chain is well worn and i'd say rear casette is worn as its slipping all over the shop. I need to order a new BB/Crankset/Chain/casette & rear deraill soon to get fitted and tested before 13th september. I'd like to keep cost down to max €160 ( £110 ) but with fairly reliable stuff. It wont get hammered now as i've new bike anyway. ( it will be backup for me and for mates / visitors etc)
I'm lost with 68-107mm | 73-110mm | 73-113mm BB's and octalink/isis & splined and all that crack. dont have time to order wrong stuff either.
Please please can anyone select those 5 components for me from www.cyclesuperstore.ie or www.chainreactioncycles.co.uk with quick delivery.( in stock items only )
I'd really appreciate it. Have a spot who'll fit the stuff for me.
Cheers lads.

Measure the bottom bracket shell width: should be 68 or 73mm.
From CC buy the followimg:
- LX Octalink crank set, 44/32/22
- Octalink bottom bracket, 122mm axle width, shell width as above.
- LX long cage rear mech, non rapid rise
- an 8spd cassette
- SRAM PC971 chain.
About 100 quid o so.0 -
thanks supersonic
the trek is currently 9 speed casette so replacing with a 9 speed would that affect your spec on the rear derailleur ie. length or rrise tec.
i'll measure the BB as suggested.
Thanks a million for your help

Ah, having a 9spd cassette makes things even better, everything will work flawlessly! I take it you have 9spd shifters?0
