Ok with my current road bike in need of an upgrade, ie new sti levers required and rear deraileur I would much rather invest in a new bike, possibly through C2W or whatever sheme the business run. Chap at my LBS rides fixed from time to time and says its great, but i`m wondering if it would suit me, its for commuting only. I note the langsters but reckon I would spend a bit more to get better kit and he also recommended a steel frame as well, alot more comfortable in the saddle ! Would carbon fibre frame be better ? My current road bike is an old Giant CFR with the carbon tubes and fork, aluminium lugs etc.

Holy carp peejay - that's sweet. Like super sweet.
Anyway, I think fixed is the ideal city/commuter bike purely for modulation of speed and low maintenance simplicity - I wouldn't go back now, even if in fashion terms it became the equivalent of riding a shopper.0 -
thanks graham, i just changed the bartape to white and put on a white saddle.
it looks totally gnarly now.
everyone is commenting on it and gazing at it.
