I've just finished restoring a Peugeot Premiere, http://www.flickr.com/photos/8222097@N03/1267947392/
Rode it for first time today, talk about feel every bump, must admit though for a 10 speed, got some good speed out of it (thank god though for disc brakes on my MTB, thought I'd never stop). Does anyone know how old these bikes am, any fond memories of owning one? Only question now is how much should I advertise it for, or should I keep it, can't wait to start another bike, hopefully older
Where'd that bloody Deer appear from?

I think that bike is from the mid-late 80's.

My mates dad had one of those way back in the early 90s and it was old then, so yeah what Andy_B said would fit with that.
  • nervous wreck when I rode it

why is this in the MTB general section?
My brother used to have one sometime between 1988 and 1992.

I bought one for £45 in 1994 when it was five years old. Nice and light but cotter pin crank gave me problems. Kept coming loose. Sold it for £27 after two years and nervously bought my first MTB - a Saracen Roughtrack, reduced from £200 to £130 in Halfords. It was the only steel model in the range, the cheapie starter bike rather like the old but superior Specialized Hardrock. The Peugeot and Saracen served me well during my biking apprenticeship, taking me to Salisbury Plain in the south to Cape Wrath in the north with island visits to Wight, Arran, Lindisfarne, Arran and Mull in between. Ah memories! Today I'm a Giant XTC fan.

I commuted to work on something similar to that for a couple of years in the late 80s, and it certainly wasn't new when I got it - hand-me-down from my brother if I recall correctly!

They're tough old things, mine got no maintenance whatsoever beyond a (very) occasional pump up of the tyres. Never even had to change a tyre or brake block in two years! Probably 'cos the brake blocks gave every indication of being made from mahogany.
Even if the voices aren't real, they have some very good ideas.

Probably because he posted it in the wrong section! I read from the 'new posts since last visit' view so never notice such things.

I'm sure a mod'll move it in due course.

  • well what section do you want it in? :D
