Fork spraying

Is there anything I need to know? If im taking off my lower legs should i also remove the seals etc and should I apply the paint directly over the top of the old paint and how many coats roughly will it need? btw its a marzocchi dj 3 07 fork that im planning to spray white. If anyone could give me a sort of guide it would be appreciated, I know its not that hard but I dont wana bodge.
