Carbon frame painting

I am going to get my Trek carbon frame painted over the winter.Iwas told that carbon bikes can be sandblasted using baking soda instead of sand so not to damage the frame.Will this work or do I need to sand the frame by hand

    A specialist refinisher uses glass beads as opposed to sand to remove the gel coat. Try Atlantic Boulevard in Bury - when I was there he was refinishing a batch of OCLV Trek frames - his finish was better than the original.
    Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
