well everything has been mixed together.

  • Horrid. Its totally OTT. The nice Cycling plus forum had a responsible and inteligent feel about it, totally different from the Mountainbike stuff which was geared (fair enough) to teenagers. the whole point of these forumns is that they deal with specialism rather than generalisations.
i understand why it's happend. Corperate money saving rather than running several sites but its nasty. Very confusing as well.
the thing is there is no identity to it. i want to look at a C+ forum or a MBUk one. This is not the way to go although quite obviously some one with more clout than me will do the deciding. Oh well it was nice whilst it lasted.

There still are specific forums, though. They're just all under one domain.

I don't know that this is really cheaper than running the other fora.
They've saved money on domain names (but they'd be silly to bin the others very quickly). They've saved nothing on bandwidth, storage space or admin. In fact, they've generated a whole bunch of admin costs by writing the new site. And If they manage to keep up with the updating, it's probably going to stay fairly high.

There is never any identity to a new forum. This is exactly what everyone said just after the switch to Snitz on the old fora (certainly MBUK, and, from what I hear, WMB).

Despite the large volumes of people complaining about it before, it seems to have settled down nicely. Of course, there's still the odd person who genuinely believes that saying 'It's all different' is a complaint due some kind of apologetic response, but by and large this forum's quite active and varied in it's content. And if you don't want to see all the content, you can just look in the specific forums you're interested in.

As, I am sure, this one will be. And then when there's another change in another few years, there'll be hoardes of people complaining that there's no longer any identity and that this new one will never work etc.
