Hi everyone,

Knowing how friendly and helpful almost all MTB'ers are out on the trails :) , I was wondering if some of you might be able to help me with some research I'm doing as part of my studies at University? I'm using an online questionnaire to gather information.

The purpose of this questionnaire is to attempt to identify how electronic communications influence our everyday lives in the 21st Century. Your response will be totally anonymous.

Just follow this link to complete the survey:

Thanks for your help!
Stu

Filled, but I think you need to chop the age ranges a bit, technology moves quick. 25-45 years is an enormous band, and just when many things like the web and mobile phones for many started to take off.

Q4 - Is 'mail' a form of electronic communication? If so, what does the 'e' on the front of 'e-mail' mean?

Q5 - What do you mean by 'always'? I always use one of the methods I selected above to contact the person in question. If I didn't, I wouldn't have selected it. But I'm not always contacting anyone.

Q7 - I prefer it because it's what I prefer. If you're to get anything out of that question, i think you need to provide examples to choose from. I'm not about to write an essay on why I prefer e-mailing to phoning most of the time, but I'm not sure I could get anything meaningful into a couple of sentences, either.

Q8 - Surely my answer to this is very likely to be the same as it is for Q7?

Q9 - This is, I am sure, copied verbatim from a primary school homework.

To be blunt, I'm a little worried that you've managed to get to the point where you're collecting research for a uni project, but still no-one's felt the need to tell you how to do it.
I can't see you getting anything useful out of that survey, and, given how many verbose answers you're asking for, I hope for your sake you don't have many people answering it.

    Hi folks,

Many thanks for your responses and useful comments so far. I've tweaked a couple of things in the questionnaire now.

I've had to keep the essay-type questions as I'm looking to get more detailed information in some sections, if possible. But I'll take on-board suggestions relating to these in future work.

    Cheers,
    Stu

I completed it, I think. It gets to 60% then returns to the first page again. Still, there you go, another piece of students primary research completed

Skits, which University are you studying at and what's your course? Is this research part of your dissertation? I'm genuinely interested.

done, age ranges could still be tweaked, under 25 is a bit broad when you're asking people on a forum such as this, there's likely to be quite a few under 25s, where as 17 and under, 18-25 may be more appropriate.
