okay, im after a time trial bike for next season, so im not rushing into buying one just yet!!!

with £1500 being the very top of my budget, im hoping to get a real decent bike for that!!!

i know that everyone will scream planet-x at me, but i thought maybe something different, as open TT's are littered with the planet-x!!!

a quick look on wiggle brings up some bikes, which are made by Quintana Roo i have never heard of this make, anyone any ideas?

also what are Felt TT bikes like? theres also a nice Specialized Transition Pro 2007 model, which is heavily reduced!

anyone any ideas or comment on what i have suggested!?

many thanks!!! :D

i ouldnt mind riding one of those, but being as though the frame alone is probably about 1500 quid, i might struggle!!!

  • I've just got a transition - you will need to upgrade the tyres - the Spec Mondos don't roll very well. Try it out for size too - I found the 52cm a bit small for me (5ft 9in, 31 inside leg).

The two most critical things on a TT bike are position and wheels - get yourself measured up and base your selection on the results - reach i.e. toptube length is by far the most critical dimension and will proably be a bit shoter than your normal road position. A pair of deep section wheels will have far greater influence on speed than the name on the downtube. Quintano Roo are predominantly targetted at the triathlon market, owned by ABG who also own Litespeed, Merlin and Tomac.

The reason you've seen so many Planet X's is that IMO they are excellent value for money

For £1500 you get a Dura Ace equipped bike, had nothing but good things to say about mine, from the improvement in times to the admiring comments! :D

Great fitting service as well if you take the time to travel there

What's wrong with Planet X?, I would have thought that the number of them that you see is testament to how good they are i.e. performance/VFM etc. I have one, the £1499 Dura Ace one in blue to be precise and like Ashley_R have nothing but great things to say about it and about Planet X.

nothing wrong with planet-x at all. i was just wondering, what with the end of season sales, if any reduced bikes matched or were better than the planet x!

Try calling on a bike shop and ask for next years models.

Or even better around the time they are transitioning from this years models to next years models chat to your local bike shop and see if you can get a bargain.

I'm picking up a £900 Cinelli on Friday for £500 because it's last years (IMO it's actually a nicer bike with a nicer shaped frame and a better colour and same kit).

So check with you local spesh dealer and Cyclopedia if you're in or around Cardiff.
