XT rear hub bearing setup frustration

hi
after tlast ride i noticed one side of my bearing on the back XT hub was totally loose, nice.
Normally you set the tension on the bearings using the cones then lock the cone in position on the axel (thereby setting the bearing preload) by holding the cone nut in one spanner and tightening the locknut with another spanner.
However, on the drive side the cone is recessed inside of the free hub body so you cant get a spanner on it - so how on earth are you supposed to lock it up!?
 thanks

undo the otherside and push the axel through. lock driveside then do disc/non driveside."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

You cant have just one bearing loose. As long as the driveside and cone is firmly locked together, all adjustments can be made at tother end as nick says.0
