what are HED wheels like!?

i have NEVER seen a review of them in a magazine, but lookign at their advert, they seem quite reasonable.

the HED Jet wheelset is £599, and appear to be quite a good set of wheels!

anyone any experience with these wheels or any HED wheels?

thanks!

Hed 3 wheels do very good in aerodynamic tests, only bettered by Zipp 808 and only matched by wheels using Zipp 404 rims, like some Easton and Richey.
Don't know about the Hed Jet wheels, but presume once the technology is there, then in the short term everything thereafter is good.

I theeenk the Hed Jets are pretty identical to the Planet X 50s ? Except more expensive.

I'd check out the Planet X website first.

(altho I do love the HED3 trispokes)

I've got a pair of HED Jet V60s and they are completely different from the Planet X 50s as they have an alloy braking surface whereas the Planet Xs are all carbon and thus lighter. You can get the HEDs in 50, 60 and 90 mm and after discussion with the guys a HED about my size and usage I decided on the 60's and they're great, they are a bit more vulnerable to crosswinds so I don't ride them in exceptionally windy weather, other than that I can't fault them, however at £599 a pair I would have thought that HED would have included skewers, which I think Planet X do.

I've also got a HED disc and Trispoke on my TT bike.

  • I've a set of jet 50's on mine.

I must say they're a great job... spin up quickly and stay fast. The 50's aren't just as susceptible to crosswinds either and I have had the out on gusty days.. just hold on tight!

I'd recommend them. Although my main reason for them was that the px 50's were tub only at the time I was buying.
