If I have a campag 10 speed chain and want to split it myself, is the only option to fork out £45 for a campag 10speed chain tool OR are there chain tools which will also work with a campag 10 speed chain? which are cheaper!!!

  • I have used a standard, cheap, chain took to join Campag 10 spd with no problems at all. If the chain is already joined and you're breaking and then rejoining, use a Wipperman powerlink or similar.
Again, I've used those with no difficulties.

I've always used a normal chain breaker.

Hey, I was worried about that too, so I just used a wipperman connex quicklink. It has been really good.
My tool catalogue tells me that there are Park, Campagnolo and Hozan 10 speed compatible chain tools. I would recommend doing away with the pins that Shimano and Campagnolo use though.
