Just bought some Rockshox Revelation 426 u turns, and got some queries. I havent fitted them to my bike yet, when i put the compression fully open and push down on the steerer i can compress them as normal, when i move the compression to locked out it doesnt seem to make any difference, i can still compress them with the same amount of force as before. My Recon 351s dont seem to have that problem when locked out i can only compress them a tiny bit, even with a fair amount of force.

The second is that when i lay them down flat for an hour on my bed i noticed hat oil has leaked out from the floodgate knob, Im guessing thats not meant to be a good thing, Should i take them back and get them swapped over or are they ok and im just being stupid ?

    They are brand new forks,

Ive just been reading the manual, it says that when a bike is stored upside down or on its side that oil sealed in hthe upper tube can collect above the motion control damper assembly. So im guessing that answers my first question about it leaking slightly when left on its side for a few hours.

It also says that the lock setting can choose the point which the lock setting can "blow off" and become active and that i can adjust the amount of movement by adjusting the floodgate appropriately whilst its in the lock mode.

Ok so ive played around with them, I put the fork in Lock mode, and have adjusted the floodgate to its maximum position, didnt make any difference, i could still compress the fork extremely easy.

Definitely sounds like a broken set, with them locked out and floodgate set to maximum they should be nearly solid.

Ok really odd thing happened, They have been standing upright all night and this morning i have played around with them some more, opened and closed the floodgate and tilted them upside down and compressed them, no fluid has leaked at all. Also i have now put it in the lock position and adjusted the floodgate to max and the lockout is working perfectly.

Do you think its because they have been stored for so long on their side thats whats caused these strange issues ?

ok was the oil just a very small amount? could have been surpless that was just sitting on top of the seal.

and yes you may have cleared the oil above the motin control damper assy.

Well it didnt seem like alot but it left a nice stain on my bed covers. They havent leaked since and the lockout now seems to be working like it should be. I think ill fit them and then if i notice any more oil leaking out of the knobs ill take the bike in to the store i got the forks from and get them to replace the seals.
