General runaround, Kaffenback or something else ?

Looking for a general runaround, bit of commuting, shoppoing, towing the kids in a trailer etc. Kaffenback seems the obvious choice, anything else to consider ? What about a Langster / Touch etc run as singlespeed when needed, ie with kids

Must be cheapish and be able to take a rack. Not too bothered about guards
